About This Simulator

Conway's Game of Life is a zero-player cellular automaton where cells on a grid live, die, or are born based on simple rules. Despite its simplicity, it produces incredibly complex and beautiful patterns. This simulator lets you draw your own starting patterns or load classic ones like Gliders, Pulsars, and Gosper Guns, then watch them evolve generation by generation.

How It Works

  1. Click or drag on the grid to toggle cells alive or dead
  2. Click Play to start the simulation and watch patterns evolve
  3. Use the Speed slider to control how fast generations advance
  4. Load preset patterns from the Preset dropdown
  5. Click Step to advance exactly one generation at a time
  6. Click Clear to wipe the grid and start fresh
